The Golden Fields playground will positively impact … our community by encouraging more families to enjoy the outdoors together.”
Marijka Ryan | Mayor | City of Tea Tree Gully
Golden days.
Golden Fields Reserve has been rejuvenated with a spectacular upgrade including the addition of an adventure playground, which joins the existing reserve playground in this spacious 12-hectare reserve. The adventure playground is situated on the lower level with a multitude of different play spaces, including an accessible area for all-inclusive, fun-fuelled adventures.
Collaboration
City of Tea Tree Gully Council wanted to create a reserve that has it all – a space that is inclusive with something for everybody and every age. Jointly funded by the State Government and the City of Tea Tree Gully, the $1.5 million project was built with the vision of creating a unique experience where children can play, learn, explore, and imagine at front of mind.
Extending the original Reserve Playground, the new adventure area provides facilities for children of all ages. The council’s goal was to create a playground that, alongside the traditional equipment for younger adventurers, catered to the preferences of older children. Fostering inclusive and energy-fuelled recreation and enjoyment in the great outdoors.
With its inviting design and focus on inclusivity, the new addition to the Reserve Playground is a testament to the council’s commitment to creating a space where the community can play, create memories, and relax together.
Solution
Golden Fields Reserve Playground is the perfect play and stay space for the whole community, fringed by easy-access paths for bikes, scooters, skateboards and prams. The original playground remains and, in combination with the new adventure playground, provides facilities for kids of all ages.
Soaring high above the ground, big kids and young adults can take a massive swing with one of the playground’s star attractions- the Super Mega Swing. It’s top bar is incredibly set at 4.2m above surface level. It’s not just about the thrill—it also delivers an unexpected workout as you soar through the air!
Right nearby the giant swing, the Pohutukawa Nature Rocker accommodates siblings and friends to rock together gently or energetically as the mood takes. Fun fact, this dynamic rocker is architecturally designed to resemble the flower of New Zealand’s iconic Christmas tree, the Pohutukawa. And when speed is of the essence, zip across the park on the super-cool 45 metre Steel Single Traveller.
This is a playground perfect for climbers, bouncers, skaters and scooters. Tramps and ramps are accessible for all, with slides that start on a flat level and bouncing mats inbuilt into the surface of the park. There is a Rage Cage and BMX track for thrill-seekers to practice tricks and show other kids how it’s done. And add to that a skate park and basketball hoop and you have a place that tempts kids and adults alike to test their skills. Whether climbing, crawling, bouncing, scooting, skating, or slam-dunking, this is a park for everyone.
And, when all that fun has tummies grumbling, the undercover picnic area is the perfect place to refuel, relax and reflect on all the fun. This park has full amenities with drinking fountains, shade sails, and toilet facilities catering for all family members, even the furry kind.
