The outstanding Lucas Park Playground sits in an impressive 2.5-acre park surrounded by a mixture of native and exotic flora including Oaks, Elms, Gums, Maples that overlook the Sanctuary wetlands. Flax and Callistemon, grasses and native rosemary bring the space to life with natural texture and movement.

The new adventure playground nestles into the natural environment with easy-access paths inviting discovery in the play space and beyond. The playground has been designed specifically for the park with the materials and equipment giving a nod to the natural landscape and encouraging little explorers in imaginative play.

Collaboration

Highly attuned to the appeal of play and recreation opportunities to homebuyers, Integra Group’s vision was for a playground that would harmonise with the environment giving the community a place to relax and unwind, while offering options for energetic play.

In partnership with Plot Landscape Architecture, we delivered a nature-inspired play space that entices children and families to stay, play and socialise. It connects seamlessly with the master planned community, with walking and riding trails leading families and friends from the central shopping precinct through natural parks and wetlands into the park.

Solution

The central feature of the playground is the eye-catching 7-meter-tall Olive Tree Birds Nest Tower with four large climbing ‘olives’ and elevated chill-out areas. Climbers can clamber up to the hanging olives via ropes, ladders, and net crossings.

There are swings galore, including the 2 Bay Timba Swing, and the Dancing Snake. Kids can spin and swing to their heart’s delight on the Dancing Snake that spins, swings up, out, down and sideways! The classic Timba Swing offers the more traditional way to be air-borne and has two separate seats for kids to swing in harmony or competition with friends and family.

A Sand Digger surrounded by a giant sand pit rotates 360 degrees and is designed especially for little diggers. Sure to keep kids occupied for hours, this piece of equipment is perfect for developing hand-eye coordination.

And if that isn’t enough to keep adventurers adventuring, the playground also has the Wobbly Wood Bamboo Hut, a playhouse perfect for imaginative play. Featuring two different climbing options to access the observation platform and numerous play elements, this is a great place for wee ones to channel their creativity and grow their imaginations.

The space caters for caregivers to relax and keep an eye on their charges, including picnic tables, seating, curved benches and shady shelters to retreat to – all perfectly positioned with the expansive, landscaped greenspace.
