Stargazing Park engages space-themed play to foster energetic adventure and imaginative play. Collaboration between the architect and developer ensured the prime objective of creating an innovative standout playground was achieved. The result is a vibrant and welcoming space where children and families can play, learn, and connect in an environment that celebrates the vast space beyond our earthly world.

Resting atop a gentle slope in the Gables, Box Hill, Stockland Development and Perfection Landscape created an alien- and space-themed playground to delight children of all ages and abilities. Featuring UFO shaped play pieces, alien-themed swings, glow-in-the-dark concrete and so much more, imaginations will soar to far and distant galaxies inspiring storied play and collaborative adventuring. Even the adults can relax in intergalactic-style under UFO shaped shade covers where they can watch their alien charges enjoying cosmic adventures.

With nature-based play pieces and out-of-this-world structures, the playground blends the real and the imaginative where little space-people can bounce over interplanetary landscapes and traverse earthly terrains.

Featuring easy-access paths meandering through and around, inviting fun-fuelled adventuring, exploration and other-worldly discovery, this recreation area is a place that will be cherished by the local community – a place where the neighbourhood can come together, play together and make magical memories together.

Collaboration

Stockland, in collaboration with the Playground Centre and Perfection Landscape has provided residents in their newest suburb with a playground that will be the inspiration of surrounding communities. With a starry-eyed vision of creating a space-themed adventure playground, the stellar team have brought together a spectacular recreation area in Stargazing Park. This innovative space is testament to the vision of the developer to provide the new community with a playground that inspires cosmic creativity while meeting the highest standards of safety and accessibility.

The partnership involved careful planning and consultation to integrate imaginative play structures while keeping a laser focus on the practicalities of construction and maintenance. The result is a dynamic and inspiring environment, integrating extra-terrestrial elements with down to earth play pieces that encourages exploration and dreaming beyond the stars without the need for a gravity suit. Blending fun with imagination, this is a playground that will spark curiosity and creativity in young and old minds alike.

Solution

Blast off into a galaxy of imaginative play at Stargazing Park. Capturing the wonder of space exploration and extra-terrestrial possibilities, children can embark on cosmic adventures without even leaving their local recreation area. This versatile playground stimulates the mind and the senses, providing an engaging environment for families and friends to connect, create and celebrate the world around and the many worlds beyond.

Zip across the park at the speed of light on the Traveller, a 25 metre flying fox that will transport you to galaxies far, far away. Equipped with a cosmic adventuring safety seat, space-trekkers of all ages can enjoy the exhilaration and thrill of supersonic space travel.

Gravity-defying ground tramps will have adventurers taking one small leap for man, and one giant leap for mankind. Continuing the space theme, space explorers can moon walk on the alien Trampoline, or launch skyward from the rocket Trampoline. These in-ground trampolines are more easily accessible for all ages and abilities with ground-level entry providing a jumping experience that reduces the risk of falls for extra safe play.

A custom built Embankment Slide makes use of the sloping terrain of the playground, with a launching pad at the top to send astral travellers whooshing to the bottom ready to explore the uncharted alien landscapes that await. Stargazing Park is a constellation of fun-fuelled play pieces from the Mirror Play Panels that warp bodies into alien forms to the Gyro Spinner that blurs the surrounds into surreal landscapes. Here, in the serene surrounds of The Gables in Box Hill is an intergalactic park that is sure to spark imagination and creativity, a place where children can ponder the wonders of galaxies far, far away.
