Play Priorities
The playground in Te Atatu Peninsula Park in Auckland is a well-used and much-loved community space. The park is home to a number of sporting clubs which host cricket matches in the summer and soccer and rugby league games in the winter, while local residents use the park daily to exercise and walk their dogs, and generations of kids have played in the playground.
The Auckland City Council’s decision to upgrade the park’s playground was a welcome opportunity to enhance the facilities available for the neighbourhood kids, and the scores of kids who visit the park on weekends during sporting fixtures.
Fun Solution
High quality, durable equipment was chosen for the playground including sturdy, low maintenance natural timber structures that were given a splash of fun with bright custom colours.
The tree house and adventure course cleverly integrate play options for small kids and big kids alike. The tree house features a dual slide and multiple points of access to the tree house via the wooden and rope ladders, and the adventure course includes a large, suspended spider web net and extra-wide vertical climbing net. Meanwhile, the unique timber see-saw with tyre stoppers provides a fresh take on the traditional see saw for the new-look playground!
