The picturesque Western Australian capital of Perth is booming, with new residential developments popping up all over the place to meet the demand of the city’s growing population.
One of the newest developments, Apsley Park Estate, has been designed to attract families seeking a healthy lifestyle, surrounded by nature. At its heart, is a tree-lined park with an adventure playground that ticks all of the boxes.
Designed by Plan E for Qube Property with Total Eden Landscaping contracted to construct the play space, it incorporates a brilliant blend of some of Playground Centre’s most popular play and fitness equipment, and unique play structures specially crafted for the space.
Fun Solution
There’s something for absolutely everyone in Apsley Park. The artfully designed play space features a number of different zones, each fitted with facilities catering to different age groups, needs and abilities.One of the exciting challenges associated with this project was the creation of the Oasis. The landscape architect had a vision for a play structure built atop a rocky mound that would provide younger children with their very own place to engage in active, imaginative play. Taking the architect’s sketches, we translated them into working drawings before handing them over to the construction team in Western Australia to bring the design to life.
Crafted from locally-sourced Jarrah timber, with a sturdy steel frame, the hexagonal-shaped Oasis is designed for children of all abilities – with a gently sloping access ramp and numerous paths and cubby-holes for hide and seek and exploration. We also supplied other pieces from our range of inclusive and accessible play equipment including our Inclusive Carousel and the visually (and audibly) appealing Tembos Musical Instrument.
In the exercise zone, Playground Centre’s Fitness Kombination 701 was installed to provide residents with a complete, circuit-style workout. Built to last, the equipment was custom-made from galvanised steel and timber and finished to complement the natural tones that feature throughout the park. Plus, we designed and manufactured a custom Mega Tunnel and Chute Slide to fit to a 12 metre tower – providing the ultimate test of courage for young (and not-so-young) thrill seekers.
