Play Priorities

A masterpiece in residential design, Golden Bay and its Shipwreck Cove playground are testimony to the dedication of developers, architects and landscape architects to creating inspired community spaces.

Playground Centre was delighted to be involved in this project, working with EPCAD Landscape Architects and Total Eden Landscaping to bring the vision for a nautical-themed, destination style playground for the residents of Peet Limited’s Golden Bay development to life.

Fun Solution

Located within just 50 metres of the stunning Golden Bay beach, with sweeping views of the Indian Ocean, Shipwreck Cove is a dream play space, designed to fuel the imaginations of children of all ages, and appeal to the child in all of us.

The playground is like a theme park. From the Sunken Pirate Ship to the individual pieces of play equipment and supporting structures, everything has been carefully, cleverly and creatively constructed to match the nautical theme. It even has its own resident characters – Captain Cove, Pirate Peet, Goldie the Parrot and First Mate Rocky!

The Playground Centre team worked closely with EPCAD Architects on the custom design of the Sunken Pirate Ship to ensure it met the City of Rockingham’s guidelines and regulations. The timber for the ship was ordered three months in advance to meet Total Eden’s construction schedule. It was pieced together in-factory and transported to site in open top containers to further reduce the timeframe required for installation.

Across the playground, custom-modified Playground Centre equipment can be found, including in the enclosed play area created especially for the community’s youngest pirates and mermaids. This includes a 4-Bay Timba Swing, Sandplay Module 222 with Sand Sieve See-Saw, Rotating Sand Lift and Bucket, as well as a Play Barrel with Net, Double Lollipop Swing, Embankment Slides, small Tube Slide and a 6 metre Mega Tube Slide built to fit the Crows Nest Tower.

All-together, it adds up to a wonder and adventure-filled family play experience that will be the source of memories that will be treasured forever.
