“It was an absolute joy to attend the grand opening of the Ratana Community Play Space and witness first-hand just how much the whole community loves the playground and family recreation hub it worked so hard to create”

Darren Hight, Business Development Manager, Playground Centre

Play brings community together

Community is at the heart of this upgraded playground in Ratana. The vibrant adventure space was designed, funded and built by residents to bring families of all ages, stages and abilities together for fun, games and social cohesion.

Hand in hand

Many hands made light, effective work when it came to designing and building this long-awaited upgraded play space for the Ratana community. To deliver the complete outdoor solution for Rangitikei District Council and the Ratana Community Board, we worked with Urban Effects – the experts in stylish and functional outdoor furniture – to deliver a complete package of play and park equipment. A true collaboration, community working bees took care of finishing touches by painting fences and landscaping.

A good time for all

Inclusive family fun and community connection are key focuses for this vibrant adventure playground, specifically designed to cater for the young and young-at-heart.

Loosely centred around The Endeavour Play Ship - which suits all ages, one side of the park caters for younger children while more advanced challenges for older children are on the other.

The Adventure Run 170 will stretch the skills of children aged 3-5 years in a safe and fun environment. Little bodies will love the monkey bars, slides and climbing apparatus, while little minds will thrive with activities like the Abacus, Tic Tac Toe and other play panels.

Rock on the Whale and Fire Truck Ultra-Tuff Single Springy Rocker, then grab some friends for double the bounce on the double seat-seesaw – which caters for two or four children.

The popular 6m Eagle’s Nest with Bridge and Slide entices climbers young and old with its four baskets suspended at different heights, three connecting ladders between nests, two climbing chimneys and five climbing ropes.

Strength, balance and fitness is targeted on the Senior Play Module, which features Fireman’s Pole, Rope Ladder and Commando Net, Tangle Tightrope, Rock Climbing Wall, Spider Web Fitness Station, Stepping Stones Fitness Station and Hanging Rings Fitness Station.

The Pluto Carousel – 1.4m diameter will set everyone spinning, while no park is complete without a swing set – and the Flying Saucer – Double Timba Frame has room for everyone. The basket swing can send up to five children flying at a time, and there’s two vandal-resistant seats for those who prefer to fly solo.

Urban Effects’ Urban Double Gas BBQ is the perfect addition to help hungry families rest and refuel. It certainly proved it’s worth frying up mountains of sausages for the play space’s grand opening recently.
