Thrills carved into iconic coastal park
The Norfolk pines, beach and marine life inspired the comprehensive remodelling of Mission Bay’s popular playground, designed to appeal to a wider range of ages, interests and abilities, whatever the time of day or year.
Already well equipped with picnic tables, barbecues and change rooms, new lighting shines bright on the unique carvings of the timber play equipment, sure to make this nautical space a destination for visitors and local residents more than ever.
Customised and themed play
Rather than simply renewing play features, Auckland Council wanted a full remodel of this popular recreation space to deliver an adventure playground which would appeal to more people and the increasing number of visitors to the iconic seaside destination. Customised marine carvings from Playground Centre’s inhouse local carver added an extra dimension to the overall theming, created and built in blue, yellow and natural tone. Lighting has been incorporated to enhance usability, add appeal and boost safety.
Solution
No one is left adrift in this adventurous marine-themed playground, designed to entice and captive the huge numbers of young and young at heart who visit this iconic seaside location.
Customised carvings of shells, waves and fish by our local in-house artisan add extra interest to the blue, yellow and natural hued timber frame equipment, each activity selected for maximum adventure and inclusivity.
The Lair - Midi customised with single slide is perfect for imaginative play, while the bank of swings, featuring Expression Swing Seat, vandal resistant Seats and Toddler Swing Seat sends the whole family sailing into the blue - adults, children and toddlers alike. The Tunnel Through Mound is one of our most popular pieces, enhanced here with Double Embankment Slide.
While there’s plenty to keep users fit and active with Jumping Jacks for those with a spring in their step and customised senior twig stacks with rope nets for navigation and climbing. All which are great for balance and strengthening core muscles.
