“The name Te Whāriki symbolises a place for all to gather and meet, and this is a unique play space that will draw together families of differing ages, abilities and interests for a long time to come.”

Community drawcard towers above

Play for all members of the community are central to this premium residential development nestled amongst waterways and wetlands in Lincoln. With equipment unique to the region catering to all ages and abilities, it’s sure to become a destination in its own right!

Collaboration

It was a pleasure to work alongside designers DCM Urban and streetscapers Evergreen Landcare to bring their vision for a unique and inclusive playground to life. It adds to the family and community appeal of the wider reserve, which features learn-to-ride bike track, half court with basketball hoop, walking tracks and plenty of sheltered picnic areas, seating, drinking fountains and bike racks.

Solution

There’s so much fun from all angles in this colourful and active play space, centred around the trendy Angled Tower 8500 with tube slide and high-rope climber – a first for the region.

Stretch your climbing abilities further on the Pukeko Perch, with its collection of nets, ladders and ropes, before taking a spin on the Inclusive Carousel. No one misses out on the dizzying thrills as it is specially designed for wheelchairs with seating for carers, parents with prams or just heaps of mates!

Feeling musical? Anyone crossing the Interactive Bridge with Sound can compose their own tunes, thanks to the six inbuilt bells.
